GUIDELINES FOR ADVERTISING IN THE GWIC GAZETTE
September 2010 to June 2011 (10 issues in total)
I. Paid Advertisements
a) General businesses, clubs or organisations.
b) Member's businesses - If a member is marketing goods or services as a business.
c) Schools - If a school wishes to market their facility to attract more students.
II. Free Advertisements – Quarter page maximum
a) Classified Ads - limited free space available for GWIC members offering small services, free classes (such as exercise, painting, language, etc.), garage sales, open house sales, etc. as well as any help wanted advertisements.
b) Schools and Religious Organisations - Free space will be available for announcements of school fundraisers and events, or for the recruitment of personnel, and to announce services of religious organisations.
c) Charity Organisations - Free space is available for organisations that donate all or the majority of their funds to charitable causes.
d) Free ads must be prepared and designed by the organisation in a JPEG format of more than 300 KB in size in order to ensure the clearest print possible. The Gazette staff will not be responsible for designing advertisements.
a) No individual ad will exceed one full page of the Gazette. All advertisements are printed in colour.
b) Fees FOR MEMBERS with small sized businesses (Note a small business refers to a non-commercial business operating out of a member's home).

c) The ads will be sold with the following fees FOR NON-MEMBERS.

d) Businesses or members, which sign up space for the entire GWIC Gazette
publishing year (September to June) and pay before the September deadline
will enjoy 1 free advertisement (i.e. purchase ad space for 9 months and
receive the 10th month for free. This offer does not extend to the Back cover).
e) Fees must be paid in advance of the monthly deadline and the advertiser is responsible to deliver the payment and the advertisement in a copy-ready form to a member of the Gazette Committee before the deadline.
f) Ads must be designed and prepared by the advertiser in a JPEG format of more than 300 KB in size in order to ensure the clearest print possible. The Gazette staff will not be responsible for designing advertisements.
g) The deadline for all ads is the 4th of the month preceding the month of publication. This may be amended with notice published a month earlier in the Gazette and all regular advertisers will be informed.
h) Advertisers unsatisfied with the quality of their published advertisement, when the ad has been submitted to the Gazette before the published deadline and meets the requirements outlined in section III.F
of the guidelines may launch a complaint with the Advertising Editor. If the fault is determined to be with the printer or the Gazette editing staff and not that of the of the advertiser, the advertiser will be entitled to a free
advertisement of the same size as the original advertisement, or in the event that the advertiser has paid for a year of advertisements in advance, a free upgrade of the size of the ad in a future magazine. THERE WILL BE NO CASH REFUNDS.
i) Advertisers who sign up space for the entire GWIC Gazette publishing year (September to June) will receive free advertising under the Businesses
section on our website. Note copy space is limited and company logos will not be advertised.
IV. Advertising Guidelines
a) Enquiries about advertising in the Gazette are to be made through
the Advertising Editor. Due to space restrictions priority will be given to GWIC
members and then on a first come first serve basis.
b) The number of full-page ads (17 x 26cm) shall not exceed 4 per issue. If there are more than two advertisers
wishing to place full page advertisements on the inside covers of the magazine, GWIC members will be given priority, and non-members shall be placed on a
rotating list of advertisers interested in this space, thus giving all advertisers an equal opportunity for these pages. An advertiser may not occupy
the back cover for two consecutive years.
c) Advertisement placement within the magazine is at the Editors discretion.
d) The Back cover advertisement may be booked for the entire year upon payment of the full fee in advance.
e) The number of half page ads (13cm X 17cm or 26cm X 8.5 cm) shall not exceed 2 per issue unless the quota of 3 full-page ads is not filled.
f) The number of quarter page ads (8.5cm X 13cm) shall not exceed 8 per
issue.
g) The number of business card-sized ads (5.5cm X 8.5cm) shall not exceed 15
per issue.
h) In the event that the number of organisations wishing to advertise in the Gazette exceeds the number of advertisements allotted, preference shall be
given to businesses owned by GWIC members, those businesses who participate in the discount program, and those who support GWIC through donations or
sponsorship.
i) Loose inserts will not be permitted in the GWIC Gazette with exceptions for GWIC information and events, and charitable organizations.
